Nitro Online / Router Hoax ?

I just read the full Nitro Online software description on their SourceForge page and found the description of use to be startlingly similar to the Router hoax that crept up a few days ago on the forums.

Is it possible that Nitro Online is just unlocking some kind of back door test mode built into the DS for testing - hence the seeming effortlessness? If you're some Nintendo DS software engineer who has to make sure this device has to be wi-fi compliant because Nintendo plans to sanction it and release it later - don't you leave in an easter egg or testing control panel? I do that crap all the time. Some back door that this kid tripped off accidentally and not repeatable because of some peculiarity to his specific router / firmware version combination?

Or are they both part of the same parties hoax?
